1-Day Wildlife Experience

Belize’s barrier reef is the second largest in the world, behind only Australia's Great Barrier Reef. The country has done a fantastic job of protecting this underwater world for visitors to enjoy. For anyone travelling here, a Belize snorkelling experience is a real holiday highlight! You'll come face to face with a kaleidoscope of stunning coral and marine life that most snorkel spots around the world can only dream of.

Your day on the barrier reef will be spent exploring 3 incredible snorkeling sites: Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Coral Gardens and Shark and Ray Alley. Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Mayan for “little channel”, is a stunning channel that allows you to make your way over colorful coral structures to to the point where the reef drops off into the Caribbean sea. It is protected as a marine sanctuary and plays host to a dazzling array of tropical fish. Next up is Shark Ray Alley, an area where fishermen used to empty their nets into the sea, attracting large families of Nursing sharks. Once fishing stopped in the area tourism stepped in and it is now an area where you can swim up close and personal with friendly nurse sharks and stingrays. Finally Coral Gardens is an area of beautiful coral and colorful tropical fish. Here it is possible to snorkel with turtles, eagle rays, nurse sharks and more. All in all one of the best snorkel days to be had anywhere in Latin America.
