1 Day Nature Experience in Guatemala
San Pedro Volcano has, hands down, the best view of Lake Atitlan. From the top you can see the lake in all its majesty including San Pedro's sibling volcanoes that surround the lake. This San Pedro volcano experience includes a challenging hike of 4,500 ft elevation gain (1,400 meters aprox.). It takes about 5 hours all in all - depending on your fitness, of course - with the top sitting about 10,000 ft above sea level (3,000 meters).
Whilst it is a tough climb, it's totally worth it and it is made easier with wonderful rest stations along the wat including one with a rope swing with a view! On a clear day from the top you can see neighbouring volcanoes Toliman and Atitlan to the south, Acatenango and Fuego (south east behind the other two mentioned above) and to the west Cerro Quemado.
Enjoy stunning views of Lake Atitlan and the surrounding villages during this flexible-length hike to the top San Pedro Volcano. After making a boat transfer to the hike starting point, you’ll begin your ascent of this beautiful volcano, climbing for the next 3 hours to reach its 9,900-foot (3,020-meter) peak. Soak up the well-deserved views of iconic Lake Atitlan, and idyllic Mayan villages down below, before returning to earth to finish your trip. This San Pedro volcano hike includes a guide, entrance fees and boat transfer to your start point
On a clear day, which can never be guaranteed, you will enjoy magnificent views over Lake Atitlán to the distant mountains and volcanoes whilst having lunch. In the afternoon, you will descend back down the volcano for your return transfer to your hotel.
