4 Day Adventure Experience in Ecuador
This special programme makes the most of some of the best white water rafting to be found in Latin America, in some of the must beautiful scenery the country has to offer. If you fancy and adventure in some gorgeous surroundings, this Ecuador rafting experience is the trip for you!
Day 1:Â Descend from Quito into the Amazon jungle as you cross the Sumaco Biosphere reserve your way to your lodge overlooking the Majestic Napo River. (B/L/D)
Day 2: Today you will raft the Upper Napo river, also known as the Jatunyacu, which means 'big water' in Quichua. This jungle river flows from the Llanganates National Park – an extremely rugged and uninhabited mountain range believed by some to be the hiding place of Inca gold. (B/L/D)
Day 3: Today is all about the Amazon. You'll start by boarding a motorized canoe, the preferred mode of transport to navigate the extensive waterways of the Napo river and its tributaries, including a visit to the animal rescue centre AmaZOOnico. On the way back to the lodge you make a short stop in one of the many local indigenous communities along the Napo river. One of the native Quichua families will offer you an insight to their daily lives and demonstrate contemporary and traditional activities. (B/L/D)
Day 4: Today you should be prepared for an exciting day in one of the most beautiful parts of Ecuador as you raft the lower Quijos, fast becoming a classic route. Once off the river you'll take an easy hike to Ecuador's most spectacular waterfall Cascada San Rafael. After all this, you deserve a stay in the Termas de Papallacta resort and spa for a well-earned soak in the volcanically-heated mineral waters. If time is limited you can head back to Quito this evening (B/L/D)
