1 Day Adventure Experience in Vietnam
Escape the city’s hustle and experience the peaceful beauty of rural Vietnam on this family-friendly cycling tour. Pedal through the scenic Song Thu River delta, crossing floating bridges and local ferries, as you explore charming villages untouched by mass tourism. Along the way, meet local artisans, try your hand at traditional crafts, and immerse yourself in the everyday life of the Vietnamese countryside.
Departing at 08:30, your journey begins with a leisurely cycle along quiet village roads and lush rice fields. The route takes you through floating bridges and wooden pathways, offering a unique perspective of Vietnam’s rural landscapes. Passing through small villages, you will have the opportunity to observe the traditional craft of wooden riverboat building and watch local artisans weave the distinctive “Hoi An” sleeping mats, a skill passed down through generations.
For a truly immersive experience, try paddling a traditional Vietnamese basket boat, used by local fishermen for centuries. This hands-on activity offers insight into an essential part of river life, with expert guidance from local boatmen. Throughout the journey, your guide will share stories about the region’s history and culture, fostering a deeper connection to the places you visit.
At midday, take a break with a home-cooked Vietnamese lunch hosted by a local family, where you can learn about their customs while relaxing in the shade of a mango tree. This personal interaction provides a rare opportunity to gain insight into rural traditions while enjoying delicious local flavours. After lunch, continue exploring craft workshops, bamboo bridges, and floating villages, before ending the journey with a peaceful 35-minute boat ride back to Hoi An, arriving by 15:00.
For those looking for a longer adventure, the tour can be extended from 9km to 16km, providing even more opportunities to explore the hidden corners of the Vietnamese countryside.
Cycling distance approx. 9km with several stops | Maximum 10 adults per group | Children 2+ years as passenger, children 6+ years can ride themselves | Children’s bicycles are available for 6 years and over. City / Hybrid bikes available.
Your Local Impact
This tour helps you engage with artisans, farmers, and boatmakers in a kind of tourism that benefits people who live and work in rural areas. By avoiding touristy villages like Can Thanh, Tra Que, or Cam Ha, it offers a more authentic and meaningful connection with local life. Cycling as the primary mode of transport reduces your carbon footprint, while allowing visitors to explore the countryside at a relaxed pace.
The experience brings direct economic benefits to families and small businesses in lesser-known villages, helping to preserve traditional crafts and livelihoods. Through personal interactions with locals, visitors gain a deeper appreciation for Vietnam’s rural heritage, creating a genuine cultural exchange that supports both people and place.
