2-Day Wildlife Experience
Discover the natural wonders of Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam’s first national park, established in 1962 by President Ho Chi Minh. Located in Ninh Binh province, this biodiversity hotspot is home to over 2,200 plant species and a diverse range of wildlife, including rare primates, clouded leopards and Asian black bears. This immersive experience combines trekking through lush forests, visiting conservation centres, and exploring the serene waterways of Trang An by rowboat.

Day 1
Your journey begins with a visit to Cuc Phuong’s Visitor Centre, where you’ll gain insight into the park’s rich ecosystem and conservation efforts. Next, stop at the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre, where langurs and gibbons rescued from poachers are rehabilitated before being released back into the wild. If there’s time you’ll also visit the Turtle Conservation Centre, home to several endangered turtle species.
After a simple yet satisfying lunch at the park headquarters, set off on a scenic 9 km trek through dense forest trails, surrounded by towering ancient trees and the sounds of wildlife. Return for dinner then as night falls, embark on a guided nocturnal wildlife walk, using spotting lamps to catch glimpses of owls, civets, flying squirrels, and other elusive night creatures. Spend the night in a simple guesthouse within the park, offering a true back-to-nature experience.
Day 2
The next morning, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the botanical gardens before departing for the UNESCO-listed Trang An Landscape Complex. Board a traditional rowboat and glide through a breath-taking maze of limestone karsts, tranquil rivers, and hidden caves. Let the rhythmic paddling of your boatman set the pace as you soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Conclude the adventure with a delicious Vietnamese lunch before heading to your hotel, with free time to explore local markets and the historic Thai Vi Temple.
Your Local Impact
This experience is designed around conservation and responsible tourism. By visiting Cuc Phuong’s rescue centres, travellers contribute to the protection of endangered species and support critical rehabilitation programs. Exploring on foot promotes sustainable travel, immersing visitors in Vietnam’s oldest forest without disturbing its delicate ecosystem. In addition, the Trang An rowboat ride offers a low-impact way to soak up the beauty of the region’s waterways while supporting local rowers and their families.
